Sabine Hillen is an Academy Project Fellow at Clingendael Institute. She specialises in intercultural communication and delivers trainings that help professionals navigate cross cultural dynamics in complex environments. Her portfolio also includes public speaking & presentation skills and training of trainers, supporting facilitators to strengthen their didactical design and delivery.
At Clingendael, Sabine designs, coordinates and implements tailored programmes for diverse audiences, diplomats, civil servants, security officials, mediators, and professionals from both the public and private sectors in the Netherlands and abroad.
Before joining Clingendael, Sabine worked at an institute specialising in online crisis simulations, where she co created simulation based learning experiences and contributed to research and data driven reports. Her academic research explored the role of education in reconciliation across post conflict contexts, with a focus on post genocide Rwanda.
A Franco-Dutch professional, she holds an Advanced MSc in International Relations & Diplomacy (Leiden University) and a BA (cum laude) in Liberal Arts & Sciences (majors in International Relations and International Development), plus certificates in negotiation (Clingendael Institute) and intercultural communication (Groningen University). She speaks Dutch, English, French (fluent) and Spanish (intermediate). In country experience: 18 years in France.
