Europe Deploys - Towards a Civil-Military Strategy for CSDP, Sven Biscop and Jo Coelmont (eds.)

Clingendael Research Fellow Margriet Drent was part of an international working group called 'Europe Deploys'. The informal working group was convened by the Egmont Institute in Brussels, the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and l'Institut de Recherche Stratégique de l'Ecole Militaire (IRSEM - Paris) with the aim to arrive at a strategy for the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). In June 2011 the final report of the working group was published, titled 'Europe Deploys - Towards a Civil-Military Strategy for CSDP'. In the report it is rendered explicit (1) for which priority regions and issues the EU must plan and prepare, (2) which possible scenarios require a CSDP operation, and (3) the implications for our capabilities. The report will be presented at the Expert Seminar of the Polish EU Presidency in Brussels on 5 July 2011.
