From taking stock to increased European defence cooperation: Diminishing the technological and capability gap of the European defence capacity
The content of this paper under the editorship of Clingendael researcher Marcel de Haas is twofold. The first part consists of a discussion paper dealing with the relations between the EU and NATO in recent years. More specifically, it deals with the technological and capability gap of the European defence capacity, and on the activities of both organisations with regard to diminishing this gap. The second part of this paper puts forward the findings of the Clingendael Conference 'From taking stock to increased European defence cooperation', which took place on 3 July 2007 in The Hague. The conference provided the replies to the Clingendael discussion paper by Dr. Hilmar Linnenkamp, Deputy Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency of the EU and Dr. Jamie Shea, Director of Policy Planning in the Private Office of the Secretary General of NATO.
