Myrthe de Boon is an Academy Project Fellow and joined the Clingendael Institute in April 2024. She develops and coordinates training programmes on the inner workings of the European Union as well as cyber- and AI diplomacy. Myrthe has trained over 200 civil servants on the fundamentals of EU decision-making and has delivered trainings abroad on cyber- and AI governance, the proliferation of commercial spyware, cyber attribution, and diplomatic responses in the cyber domain. 

Prior to joining Clingendael, Myrthe worked as a policy advisor at the European Parliament. In this role, she advised on the European Parliament Recommendation on the investigation into alleged contraventions and maladministration in the application of Union law related to the use of Pegasus and equivalent surveillance spyware. She also participated in work related to the European Parliament position on the EU Artificial Intelligence Act. 

After her time at the European Parliament, Myrthe worked in the public affairs sector where she supported organisations in navigating the regulatory landscape on cyber- and technology-related issues. 

Myrthe holds a master’s degree in Political Theory (MSc) and a master’s degree in European External Policy (MA) from the University of Amsterdam.
