Giulia Cretti is a Research Fellow at the EU & Global Affairs Unit of the Clingendael Institute. Her work revolves around EU policy-making and external action, in particular green trade and green energy policy, and EU relations with the Western Balkans and ASEAN. In her research she focuses on the external dimension of the European Green Deal, especially decarbonisation policies.Topics within her expertise include EU green energy diplomacy, energy security, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.
Giulia holds a BSc in International Relations and Political Science (cum laude) from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan and a MSc in Public Administration: International and European Governance (cum laude) from Leiden University. Prior to joining the Clingendael Institute, she worked at the Embassy of Mexico in the Netherlands and in a non-governmental organization in Thailand.
