Jelte de Jong joined the Clingendael Institute as an Academy Project Fellow in September 2025, after having interned at the Institute in 2024. He develops and coordinates training courses for a variety of groups including foreign diplomats, security personnel, and civil servants. He has worked with participants from various regions, including East Africa, the South Caucasus, and South Asia. 

Prior to his position at Clingendael, Jelte interned at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tbilisi, Georgia. There, he contributed to work on EU enlargement,  EU neighbourhood policy, and economic diplomacy.

He holds an MSc in Conflict Resolution and Governance from the University of Amsterdam, with a regional focus on Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He also completed a pre-master in International and European Law as well as a BSc in Political Science at the same university. As part of his studies, he participated in a global exchange programme at McGill University in Montréal, where he focused on the political economy of international organisations and the French language.
