A deep dive into international security
From Chinese foreign policy to cyber threats and the dynamics of current conflicts — these were just some of the topics explored during Clingendael Academy’s recent eight-day Course on International Security. The course brought together international and Dutch professionals to examine emerging trends and developments in global security.
The course offered both practical skills and in-depth insights structured into two modules. In the first, participants developed their scenario-building skills. It included a critical session led by Clingendael’s United States expert Rem Korteweg, highlighting how the outcome of the U.S. elections may impact Europe. The session introduced Clingendael’s newly launched USA Programme.
The second module delved into conflict analysis, letting participants analyse the complex layers of ongoing conflicts and peacebuilding efforts across the globe. With guidance from experts, the course shed light on the ongoing conflicts in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon, Ukraine, the DRC, and the Horn of Africa. Participants gained different perspectives on conflict dynamics and practical tools for analysing these critical issues.
