Seminar on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)

During his 2013 State of the Union address President Barack Obama announced his administration’s intention to sign a Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) with the European Union. The EU responded with great enthusiasm, and EU-US negotiations started in the summer of 2013. But what does this partnership entail? What are the key-issues? And what are the chances and challenges for Dutch Small and Medium Enterprises?

The Clingendael Institute, in collaboration with ECORYS Netherlands and with support of the US Embassy, will provide answers to these and other questions on February 17th , 2014 (3:00-5:00 PM). In this two hour seminar, both the economic and geopolitical context of TTIP will be discussed.

Insight into key issues
Among the list of key speakers are former US Ambassador Shaun Donnelly, who will provide an insight into the US perspective on TTIP, and Simon Smits, DG of Foreign Economic Relations (Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs) who will represent the European and Dutch view on the issue. Clingendael senior research fellow Peter van Ham, and Koen Berden, managing director Ecorys-Netherlands, will also share their expert views with the audience.
