Since 2012, the Clingendael Academy – in close cooperation with the World Trade Organization – annually hosts a one-week course for trainees of the Netherlands Trainee Program (NTP).

Each year, around fifteen participants from various countries all over the world participate in this training with the goal of enhancing their knowledge and skills concerning the WTO and related matters.

The 2021 edition marks a very special occasion, as it was the first time since the outbreak of the global pandemic that Clingendael could once again finally host the WTO-trainees at our premises in The Hague.

The intensive and densely packed training week saw the group debating a slew of topics related to international trade and development, visiting several important stakeholders, going on a boat tour through the harbour of Rotterdam, and even enjoying a substantial feast of Yemeni food.

We wish the trainees the best of luck in their future careers after returning home from Geneva in a month’s time.
