Call for Applications: Review Peace Negotiations Programme
14 Jun 2023 - 14:38

Clingendael Academy is looking for a consultant to conduct a ‘first-year review’ of the Clingendael Academy’s Peace Negotiations Programme.

Clingendael Academy is one of the largest independent diplomatic training centers around the world. Every year, around 2,500 international professionals from over 60 countries participate in courses at the Clingendael Institute. Its Peace Negotiations Programme started in June 2022, which is a capacity strengthening programme for negotiators, mediators and mediation support officers to build peace and prevent conflict. This programme is focused on delivering training, but not exclusively. It is funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The process of the review itself is foreseen to take starting in July 2023, concluding with the final report in December 2023, and feedback in January 2024. The main aim of this First–Year Review is to help ensure accountability and to have recommendations to be taken into consideration for the remainder of the programme.

We are looking for a consultant that can facilitate a collaborative evaluation process that fosters learning and provides us with insights for improvements to the programme. Do you have experience with similar evaluations, and are you interested in applying?

Please submit your application by sending us your CV and a short motivation letter (half a page is sufficient), before the 1st of July 12:00 PM CEST, to gvogelaar@clingendael.org. Please write “FYR Application” as the email subject.

Please note:

  • We will look particularly at the track record you have in conducting (similar) reviews and evaluations

  • We encourage applications from those who have prior experience working with non-governmental organisations in the field of peacebuilding and conflict resolution and ideally with capacity building and training programmes as well.

  • Prior experience conducting reviews of programmes funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a plus.

  • Please also indicate your availability in the period between July and December

  • We will be contacting potential reviewers after the 1st of July only. Interviews will take place on 6th July.

Please read the full Terms of Reference (TOR) which specifies the research goals and related questions which will be addressed in the review study.
