EU-27 Watch No. 8

15 Apr 2009 - 15:31

The enlarged EU of 27 members is facing a lot of challenges regarding effective policy-making, democratic legitimacy and global politics.

The latest issue of the biannual 'EU-27 watch', including the contribution on the Netherlands by CESP-fellows Ketie Peters, Mirte van den Berge and Louise van Schaik, provides a comparative picture of debates on European integration and current political developments in each of the EU member states. Topics discussed include: the future of the EU after the Irish referendum; renewed transatlantic relations after President Bush; the EU response to the financial crisis; looking back to the French Presidency; ENP and enlargement; and current issues of high salience in the member states.
