Clingendael Institute

Why work at clingendael?

The Netherlands Institute of International Relations, ‘Clingendael’ is the leading independent Dutch think tank and diplomatic academy on international affairs. The institute provides public and private sector organisations with in-depth analysis and training programmes on global development in the fields of public diplomacy, international security, European affairs and conflict management.

Working at the Institute means working in an international environment with highly-skilled and qualified professionals. Our Fellows are all university graduates. They are supported by the Corporate Staff Department.

In addition to a competitive salary, you will be paid holiday entitlement and a year-end bonus. You will make pension contributions to the ABP fund, the larger part of the contributions being paid by the Institute.

Internships
We regularly offer students the opportunity of spending an internship or placement in our Research department or at Clingendael Academy. During your internship you will have the opportunity to work closely with our Fellows and to build up an international network. You must be registered on a master's programme and be eligible to spend your internship in the Netherlands for the duration of the internship. Foreign students seeking an internship or placement must, where appropriate, have a student visa. In addition to €450 per month (gross), we also have an ample expenses scheme to cover commuting costs.
