Eva Oldenbuerger is a Programme Fellow at the Clingendael Academy, working within the Humanitarian Negotiations Programme since 2021. Her focus lies on designing, coordinating and delivering training in humanitarian negotiation and humanitarian diplomacy.
She has worked with professionals across different levels of the humanitarian and diplomatic sectors, ranging from local NGOs to UN bodies, and diplomatic services. She often conducts these sessions directly in participants’ local contexts, or as close to them as safety allows. Through this work she aims to strengthen the ability of individuals and organisations to protect humanitarian space in complex crisis environments.
Her understanding of humanitarian work is informed by working in refugee camps in Greece and by contributing to advocacy and coordination efforts within the Dutch Relief Alliance. Eva holds a master’s degree in International Development Studies from Wageningen University, specialising in the Sociology of Conflict and Disasters, and a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Leiden University. Her working languages are English, German and Dutch.
