Diplomats from past Clingendael training programmes recently participated in a webinar series on the current challenges of the United Nations (UN). Diplomats from all over the world were invited to attend two webinars: one on collective security and the other on sustainable development. Additionally, they got access to Clingendael Academy’s e-learning module on how the UN functions as an organization.
In the first webinar, participants discussed current challenges pertaining to the legality and legitimacy of international military interventions. In the second, participants were informed about the implementation status of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships in achieving the SDGs. Both webinars, conducted by Clingendael’s trainers Marianne Ducasse- Rogier and Amanda Klemann respectively, were interactive with assignments and quizzes. They also highlighted how the current COVID-19 crisis is impacting the functioning of the UN .
These UN webinars were part of a broader series for diplomatic alumni. In the coming months, new online discussions will take place on the following topics: European Union and International Law . Clingendael alumni will be invited to attend through their exclusive alumni platform.
