As of this week, the 32 newly recruited policy officers of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs (in Dutch known as 'het Klasje') are in training at Clingendael Academy together with 7 of their colleagues who hold international policy positions at five other ministries. 

Dutch foreign policy & diplomatic skills

During an intensive ten week programme, the junior diplomats will gain a thorough understanding of all major policy areas and priorities of the Dutch MFA. In addition, they will strengthen their diplomatic skills needed to operate effectively in an international environment such as negotiation, presentation, argumentation and intercultural communication skills. 

Building a relevant network 

We also offer a wide array of trainers and experts with various perspectives to allow participants to enlarge their network and gain insights in the interests of different stakeholders, and to encourage them to be reflective, critical, and open-minded. 

Upon completion of the programme, the group will be fully prepared to commence their careers in the complex and rapidly changing world of foreign affairs.
