Izzy van Unen joined the Clingendael Institute as an Academy Programme Fellow in February 2022. She coordinates and develops a variety of training programs for different audiences, such as foreign diplomats, mediators, and humanitarian workers.

Prior to joining Clingendael, Izzy worked in institutional fundraising at Cordaid and as a project assistant and intern at NGOs in the Netherlands and Romania, where she coordinated events and trainings and focused on communications and research.

She holds a Cum Laude rMSc in Cultural Anthropology from Utrecht University. For this program, she conducted extensive fieldwork in Colombia on the post-conflict reintegration process of ex-combatants of the FARC-EP. In addition, she holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Amsterdam with a focus on the anthropology of conflict and violence, as well as a minor in conflict studies.
