Developments in cyberspace are becoming increasingly important for the work of diplomats. How can diplomats effectively navigate these developments? This online training on cyber diplomacy, designed for diplomats from South Africa, contributes to finding an answer for that question.

An experienced group of twenty South African diplomats spent four intensive training days with us, taking a deep-dive into a slew of important topics related to the international cyber domain. For example, we discussed the risk landscape and state level operations, state level responses to cyber incidents, cyber capacity building, and the current state of affairs in UN processes. On the last day, the group had the chance to engage in a discussion with cyber experts and representatives from the South African and the Dutch government.

Participants also watched a pre-recorded interview with Dr. Nnenna Ifeanyi-Ajufo on cyber governance and capacity building efforts, which was recently added to our e-learning content.

The Clingendael Academy looks back on some exciting days, in which we exchanged viewpoints and learned from one another.
