Of all the languages in the world Clingendael teaches only one: the language of international relations.

Whether you want to deliver a fiery public speech or write a reserved diplomatic note, effective communication skills require knowledge and practice. Whenever you cross boundaries of states, cultures or even sectors, your communication adapts. International business and trade has a different vocabulary than government for example. And how do you recognise when to shift from a dominant tone of voice to a more compromising tone during negotiations?

During an intensive eleven week training programme you will work on the competences and skills to be successful abroad. At the same time, you will strengthen and deepen your knowledge on topics that shape the ever-changing dynamics of international affairs. Throughout the programme, you, together with international and national experts from academia, NGO’s, policy makers and the private sector, will tackle thematic issues in the fields of:

  • Geopolitics
  • International law and human rights
  • EU cooperation
  • Sustainable development
  • International development and cooperation
  • Economy, trade and investments
  • International security

For (aspiring) internationally oriented professionals, Clingendael Academy provides the Course on Internationals Relations (Leergang Buitenlandse Betrekkingen, or LBB). The registration for the 74th edition of the course is now open! The course will run from 9 October to 20 December 2019.

Please note that the LBB will be conducted in Dutch.
