Paula Stuurman is an Academy Programme Fellow active within the fields of international security and diplomacy. Paula primarily designs and coordinates training programmes for diplomatic audiences from the Middle East North Africa region and Dutch and international actors within the field of international security. In addition, Paula provides training on a variety of topics, including international law, crisis management & communication, international negotiations, and diplomatic skills. 

Paula frequently engages with various stakeholders within the international diplomatic community in The Hague as well as the Dutch Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence and the Dutch National Police. In addition, she has collaborated with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency on projects in the MENA region for multiple years. 

Before joining Clingendael, Paula worked at the International Criminal Court and the International Team of the Supreme Audit Institution of the Netherlands. She holds an MA in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action with a focus on Project Management and the Middle East from the Sciences PO Paris School of International Affairs and an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Cambridge.

Paula has lived in Morocco, the United Kingdom, and France and speaks Arabic, Persian, and French.
