Max joined the Clingendael Institute in June 2018 as a Training Fellow at Clingendael Academy. He coordinates a wide variety of diplomatic training programs for both Dutch and foreign professionals.

Prior to joining the Clingendael Institute, Max worked as an advisor at both Leiden University and Erasmus University Rotterdam. There he focused on change management and diversity policy, respectively. Additionally, he worked as a freelance public speaking trainer and writer.

Max graduated from Leiden University with a Master’s degree in Political Science in 2016. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in History of International Relations from Erasmus University Rotterdam.

During his studies he did internships at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague, working on European affairs and human security. Furthermore, he is a graduate of the honours programme “United Nations and Multilateral Diplomacy”, organized by the United Netherlands Foundation.
