Translating international trends to innovative education

02 Jun 2014 - 14:24

Clingendael's Academy Director Ron Ton participated in an informal working group on the European Diplomatic Programme (EDP), in Athens, 26-28 May 2014. The meeting was attended by training directors of the EU member states, representatives of the EEAS and EU institutions, and two young diplomats on behalf of each member state. The EDP covers the external dimension of the EU.

During the working group, the format of the existing diplomatic training was evaluated. Best practices were shared on training for junior diplomats and e-learning. Ron Ton delivered a presentation on the Academy's training for young diplomats from the Netherlands (the "Klasje"), focusing on strategic trends in diplomacy and the translation of these trends into innovative education.

This presentation called "Translating International Trends to Innovative Education" can be found below.

The next edition of the EDP  marks its 15 years anniversary and will be hosted by the Italian and Latvian Presidencies.
