Max Eleveld joined the Clingendael Institute in 2018. He is Head of Clingendael Academy's Diplomacy Programme, a position he has held since July 1, 2025. He oversees Clingendael’s flagship diplomatic training programmes and their teams and, as such, manages Clingendael Academy's Diplomatic training portfolio. The portfolio consists of over 50 training programmes each year, with more than 700 diplomats from over 120 countries participating annually.
As part of Clingendael’s management team, he helps develop the Academy's multi annual strategy, advises on curriculum design and development, and is responsible for the Diplomacy portfolio's financial management.
As trainer, he provides trainings in diplomatic skills, capacity building, and EU accession to a global audience.
Before joining Clingendael, Max worked as policy advisor at Leiden University and Erasmus University Rotterdam. He holds an MSc in Political Science from Leiden University and a BA in History from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
