Revolution and its discontents: state, factions and violence in the new Libya

Libya has come to exemplify the tortuous route out of dictatorship in North Africa. Rooting the analysis in the new political economy of Libya, this report points to the ways in which international support strategies may be devised so as to avoid the lure of quick solutions that might estrange powerful groups and deepen the country’s instability.
