After having worked together on training for the Joint Ceasefire Monitoring Committee (JMC) in 2017 and 2018, UNDP and Clingendael Academy have started a new and wider cooperation supporting different stakeholders in the peace process.

The first training in the new cooperation was held in the last months of 2019 in the capital Nay Pyi Taw for senior government officials (deputy director or higher). The 28 participants brought together 13 different government organisations, ranging from Parliament to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and from the National Police to the State Councillors Office.

The training was an introduction to negotiation skills and strategies, negotiation competences and consensus building. In highly interactive sessions we worked with the participants in conducting simulations, discussing deadlocks and in debriefings deeper reflections were held on intra- and inter-ministerial collaboration and the wider peace process in Myanmar.

UNDP Myanmar and Clingendael will continue their cooperation in 2020.
