Youri Verschoor is a researcher at Clingendael’s Security Unit, primarily working on the institute’s Security & Defence Programme. His research revolves around the security and defence domain, such as in relation to dynamic military developments, national and international defence policy, as well as EU and NATO affairs.
Youri holds an MSc in Political Science: European Politics & External Relations from the University of Amsterdam, a BA in International Studies: Russia & Eurasia from Leiden University, and an Associate degree in European Studies from The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
Previously, he worked as a trainee on behalf of the European Parliament and the Dutch provincial government of Zuid-Holland, as well as participated in the European Commission’s Jean Monnet Programme on the topic: The EU as a Global Actor.
Moreover, Youri is fluent in Dutch, English, and German, as well as proficient in Russian and Persian.
