Paul is a senior Academy fellow at the Academy Programme on International Security and Capacity Building. Since 2015, he has been responsible for the management and coordination of training courses for various Dutch and foreign professionals working in the security sector, including the Netherlands Ministry of Defense, the Netherlands Ministry of the Interior, the Netherlands Police, the EEAS and NATO SHAPE.
Paul regularly provides training sessions on countering disinformation and foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI), strategic risk analysis and management, and the analysis of armed conflict, as well contributing regularly to capacity building projects with partner organizations. Furthermore, he supports several of the Academy’s international counterparts in the development of their institutional and didactic capacities. In addition to this, Paul serves as Academy liaison to the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) and the European Training Initiative (EUTI).
Prior to working at the Clingendael Institute Paul worked as an independent documentary filmmaker in India, Peru and Palestine. He holds a MA in Conflict Studies and Human Rights and an M.Ed. in contemporary history from the University of Utrecht, and is an internationally certified Intercultural Communications trainer.
