Diederick is an EU expert at the Clingendael Institute, where he has been engaged in strategic thinking on the European Union since February 2022. His expertise lies in addressing pivotal questions such as: How can the EU assert itself more geopolitically? How can European companies remain competitive in a rapidly changing global landscape? And how do elections within member states influence EU politics? Diederick also explores the future of EU-US relations and the next steps in European integration.
In his role, Diederick blends research with hands-on training for diplomats and civil servants, while organising key events that foster dialogue on Europe's future. His work draws on knowledge and his network from his time as a Parliamentary Works Assistant for the European People’s Party in the European Parliament, where he provided strategic support to Members of the European Parliament.
Diederick’s journey into international affairs began with an extensive course on international relations at the Clingendael Institute. He also holds a Cum Laude MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Antwerp, and a bachelor’s degree in business studies from the University of Applied Sciences Ede. His career is driven by a passion for connecting European strategic thought with actionable solutions for the future.
